Facebook Inc employees most stressed !

SAN FRANSISCO: Facebook Inc employees are the youngest and most satisfied, and yet the most stressed, among workers at big US technology companies, a survey found.

Facebook had the lowest median age, 26, as well as the highest portion of female workers, 33 per cent, among nine of the industry's top businesses, according to PayScale Inc, a Seattle-based research firm.

Employees at International Business Machines Corp and Hewlett-Packard Co were the oldest surveyed, with a median age of 44.

The social-networking site, run by the 27-year-old Mark Zuckerberg, has thrived by disrupting more-established technologies, such as Internet search and Web portals. That upstart spirit extends to its hiring policies, where workers aren't judged by how many years they've spent in the business.

"We really don't believe that you have to have a lot of experience to make a big difference," Zuckerberg says in a video on the company's career website. "Look at me, right? I started this from college."

PayScale collected online surveys from employees at Amazon.com Inc, Apple Inc, Dell Inc, Facebook, Google Inc, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel Corp and Microsoft Corp. The results aren't verified by the companies and aren't a scientific sampling because they depend on individual workers submitting their data.

Apple's median starting salary was $43,100, excluding employees from the company's retail stores, according to PayScale's survey. That puts it at the bottom on the list. Microsoft was highest, with pay of $86,900.

Apple's designers
Even so, both pay a 15 per cent premium over what workers would get elsewhere, said Al Lee, PayScale's director of quantitative analysis. The difference may stem from the mix of jobs at each company, he said. The pay figures also don't factor in stock options.

"Apple may have a bunch more designers and Web marketers on staff than some of the other companies, and that might pay less," Lee said. The company also employs an in-house support staff to answer calls, unlike some big technology companies.

At Facebook, workers make about $59,100 to start, 49 per cent more than the national average. They get a 13 per cent premium over what employees would earn at similar positions at other companies, the survey found.

That extra pay comes with a dose of pressure, according to PayScale. Employees ranked highest in job satisfaction but also indicated their work was "highly stressful," tying them with Amazon's workers. The seven-year-old Palo Alto, California-based company is constantly innovating in an effort to stay on top of the social-networking field.

Be bold
In the video, Zuckerberg extols workers to "be bold," because "what we're trying to do is different than what everyone else has done before."

As the economy rebounds, the biggest technology are having to work harder to retain talented employees, said Tom Silver, senior vice president of Dice Holdings Inc, a job-listing website. Resurgent demand for corporate technology, the shift to cloud computing and the rise of social media are all increasing the need for staff, he said.

"You've got more traditional companies that need to build and improve infrastructure, they're putting their data in the cloud -- who knew what that was a few years ago?" Silver said. "The demand for tech talent is pretty extreme."

In January, Google announced plans to give employees a 10 per cent raise to retain talent. The company pays the highest premium -- 23 per cent -- above what workers with similar roles at other companies are paid, according to the report.

Employee perks
Google also is known for employee perks, including a gourmet cafeteria and on-site massages. Google was tops in mid- career median pay as well, at $141,000. Its employees ranked as the second-youngest behind Facebook, at 31.

"The most successful companies always pay the most, have the most benefits and the perks," said John Challenger, chief executive officer of Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. "Google and Facebook are the stars."

In terms of the pay premium, established technology companies didn't fare as well. Hewlett-Packard, founded in 1939, pays its workers 5 per cent less than the market average, PayScale found. Mid-career workers at the company also make the lowest median salary, $91,600.

IBM, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, pays its workers a 5 per cent premium, putting it third from the bottom. Dell, which pays 4 per cent above the market average, was second-lowest on the list.

"Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Dell are all successful companies, but they're clearly running their business in a different way, in terms of the kind of talent they're recruiting," Lee said.

United States has declined to confirm the death of Ilyas Kashmiri

Washington: Despite Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani's reported assertion that Washington has confirmed the death of Ilyas Kashmiri, the United States has declined to do so.

"I don't have any confirmation of that," State Department spokesman Mark Toner told reporters on Monday when asked about Gilani's statement about the killing of a key plotter of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in a US drone strike in Pakistan.

Kashmiri, the commander of Pakistan based Harakut-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJi), an Al Qaeda-connected terror group is believed to be responsible for several attacks in India and Pakistan.

When told that the US defence department was also not confirming, Toner said he was aware of press reports from Pakistan but repeated: "I would just reiterate we have no confirmation."

"I both have no comment and no way of confirming his death," he added in response to persistent questioning.

Asked what Pakistan had told US officially or non-officially about Kashmiri's death, Toner said: "I'm not going to get in the substance of those discussions."

Earlier Pentagon spokesman Col Dave Lapan simply told reporters: "No confirmation."

"The department of defence has no confirmation," he said when asked about Gilani's reported statement that the US has confirmed the death of Kashmiri.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, said he had forgiven the government

Hardwar: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who is continuing his fast against corruption here, today said he had forgiven the government for the action against him and his supporters at Ramlila ground in Delhi. But he said police could try to destroy evidence of the "hooliganism"."The atrocities on me and thousands of my followers, the conspiracy of my murder they made, I have personally forgiven them," Ramdev told reporters in Hardwar, two days after he was evicted from the capital. But he said, "The taint they have brought to democracy, the history of this country and the world will never forgive them."

"This is hooliganism of police, they edited the CCTV footage and released the CD. They lodged wrong cases on our workers," he said.

Ramdev also said the supporters were beaten and sent back in trains so that no one is there to tell the media what police did.

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, would be releasing his autobiography very soon

Mumbai: Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who has been writing his autobiography since many years now, has revealed that his book is almost near completion and he would be releasing it very soon.

The book that has been christened "Twenty Years In A Decade" will focus on the life of the 45-year-old actor from the year 1991 to 2001.

"I am writing this book since more 10 years now. It is called 'Twenty Years In A Decade' because I felt that in 10 years, I've lived a life of 20 years between 1991 to 2001. It's almost complete now and one of these days when I complete it, I will ask my writer friends to edit it and I'll release it," Shah Rukh told reporters here at an event to release Kanika Dhillon's debut novel "Bombay Duck Is A Fish".

"It's a fun book and is about positivity and hope and its funny, like I am. I've written things about my life in a fun way. Very personal things are there in it, selective memories though. There is a chapter on journalism too," he said.

Although the actor has written about various facets of his life in the book, his favourite chapter remains the one that mentions his parents, who passed away when he was quite young.

"One of my favourite chapters in the book is about my mother and father. Its eight pages long. Whoever writes a book for the first time, parents' mention is always there," said Shah Rukh.

Since he has already tried his hand at writing a book, when asked if he would ever venture into writing a film, Shah Rukh, who is a voracious reader, refused.

"That's an expert thing to do. In every film I work, my inputs are always there but full script, I don't think I know the science or the mathematics behind it. Anyone can write a story but its difficult to write a screenplay."

"I don't know it. Infact a matter of fact, If I get a chance, I would like to do a course of screenplay writing for one-two months. I have read a lot of books on that but I think you need someone to teach you, to actually learn it," he said.

Cricket:Rohit Sharma to guide India to a comfortable win over the West Indies

Port of Spain: Rohit Sharma hit an unbeaten 68 to guide India to a comfortable four-wicket win over the West Indies in the first one-day international of the five match series at the Queens Park Oval here on Monday.Sharma's 75-ball knock helped India recover from a shaky 61 for three to successfully chase down a modest West Indies total of 214/9 in 44.5 overs with four wickets in hand. Sharma was also adjudged as the Man of the Match.

West Indies aided by Ramnaresh Sarwan (56) and Marlon Samuels (55), who put on 82 for the fourth wicket, got to a respectable total on a challenging track. Harbhajan Singh finished as the pick of either side's bowlers with 3-32.

India got off to a quick start with Shikhar Dhawan (51) and Parthiv Patel (13) hitting a string of boundaries. But Patel's run out, a brilliant work by Dwayne Bravo and Carlton Baugh, triggered a mini collapse.

Virat Kohli was caught behind off Ravi Rampaul for two and Subramaniam Badrinath (17) under-edged leggie Devendra Bishoo through to Baugh to leave India struggling at 61-3.

But Sharma stitched two crucial partnerships with Dhawan and skipper Suresh Raina (43 not out) to bail out India.

Sharma was first involved in a 43-run stand with Dhawan and then pushed India to a win with a 80-run stand with Raina.

Harbhajan Singh (6 not out) finished things off in style with a six off Darren Sammy.

Earlier, India put up a disciplined bowling performance to restrict the West Indies to 214 for nine. Harbhajan took three wickets while Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel and Raina chipped in with two wickets each.

Sarwan (56) and Samuels (55) scored 82 runs after West Indies lost three quick wickets. The lower order, however, failed to accelerate in the death overs.

West Indies captain Darren Sammy chose to bat, but Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel bowled a tight line.

The West Indies lost opener Lendl Simmons and Darren Bravo early. Praveen dismissed Simmons, who played straight into the hands of Harbhajan Singh at mid-off. Bravo was caught by Rohit Sharma in the slips off Munaf.

Kirk Edwards (45) and Sarwan found the going tough and focussed on building a partnership. But the runs dried out as the spinners tightened the noose around them.

Edwards, who was clearly uneasy facing the slow bowlers, was dismissed by Harbhajan, caught by Virat Kohli in the slips.

Sarwan and Samuels then tried to stem the rot but the runs came at a slow pace. Sarwan, who hit five fours in his 94-ball innings, was caught by wicketkeeper off Munaf.

Raina got rid of Samuels, who hit two sixes as he looked to break the shackles.

Dwayne Bravo made a quickfire 22 off 20 balls and Carlton Baugh contributed 16, before Harbhajan got rid of both. The rest of the lower order batting then surrendered.

Baba Ramdev eviction from Ramlila grounds :Supreme Court notice to Centre

Taking suo motu cognisance of forceful eviction of yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his followers from the Ramlila grounds here, the Supreme Court on Monday sought the Centre's response on the incident.

A vacation bench of justices B S Chauhan and Swatenter Kumar issued notices to the Union home secretary, chief secretary of Delhi, Delhi administration, and Delhi police commissioner asking them to respond within two weeks.

The court asked them to reply as to what were the circumstances under which the people had to be dispersed at midnight by the use of force.

The court posted the matter for hearing in the second week of July.

However, the court declined to entertain a petition filed by advocate Ajay Aggarwal on the issue.

The bench expressed its displeasure that before the matter came up for hearing before it, the entire contents of the petition were leaked to the media.

Police had cracked down on Baba Ramdev and thousands of his supporters at Ramlila Maidan on Saturday night, forcibly ending their hunger strike on corruption and black money issues.

Congress Digvijay Singh's residence was pelted with stones,in favour of Baba Ramdev

Bhopal: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh's residence was pelted with stones by some unidentified people who also shouted slogans in favour of yoga guru Baba Ramdev, police said on Monday.

Digvijay Singh, who has twice been Madhya Pradesh chief minister, owns a bungalow here in Shyamla Hills, but when the incident took place late Sunday, no one from his family was present except a few guards.

"Some people pelted stones and shouted slogans at Digvijay Singh's residence in Shyamla Hills. But it happened for a few minutes and the group left the place," Bhopal Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogesh Choudhary said.

"After the incident, we have told the patrolling party to keep a watch on the house," he said.

The incident is being seen as the outcome of Digvijay Singh's remarks against Ramdev whom he had termed a "thug" on Sunday morning after Delhi police's crackdown on the yoga guru's fast unto death at Ramlila ground in New Delhi.

Madhya Pradesh Congress leader J.P. Dhanopia claimed the people who pelted stones were affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and allied groups.

"The incident took place in the presence of police and we strongly condemn it. The incident also proved that Baba Ramdev is an agent of the saffron parivar," Dhanopia alleged.

Nadal beats Federer to win record-equalling sixth French Open title

PARIS: Rafael Nadal won a 10th Grand Slam crown and equalled Bjorn Borg's record of six French Open titles when he defeated Roger Federer 7-5, 7-6 (7/3), 5-7, 6-1 on Sunday in the rivals' latest epic duel.
Top seed Nadal, who was also champion in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010, took his overall Paris record to 45 wins against just one defeat and victory also meant he hangs on to his world number one spot.

It was the 25-year-old Spaniard's 17th win over Federer in 25 meetings and fourth in a Roland Garros final.

But unlike the pair's 2008 clash, when Federer managed to win just four games in the most one-sided final in 30 years, Nadal was made to work harder for his sixth Paris title.

He had to come from 2-5 in the opener, saving a set point, and then squandered a 4-2 lead in the third as 29-year-old Federer, the 2009 champion and bidding for a 17th Grand Slam title, threatened to launch a stunning comeback.

In the end, he was undone by a combination of Nadal's claycourt prowess and his own 56 unforced errors.

In a final played in heavy, muggy conditions in the French capital, Federer raced to a 3-0 courtesy of two confident service games and a break in the second game on a fourth break point when Nadal netted a simple running forehand.

The Swiss, playing in his 23rd Grand Slam final, was soon 5-2 ahead wth Nadal's problems compounded by having to call for treatment on a blister on his left heel at the changeover.

But Nadal regrouped and saved a set point in the seventh game, albeit by the smallest of margins when a Federer drop shot just missed the target.

The Spaniard went to 3-5 with a thumping backhand crosscourt winner before he retrieved the break in the ninth game with a sweeping, low forehand which the approaching Federer could only volley into the net.

Nadal held for 5-5 and broke to lead for 6-5 by winning a thrilling eye-to-eye duel at the net with a reflex volley before a rattled Federer netted a simple forehand.

The Spaniard clinched the set after 62 minutes when he swept a killer forehand crosscourt with Federer hopelessly out of position.

It was Nadal's fifth game in a row and that soon became seven with a break and hold to lead 2-0 in the second set as Federer wilted.

Federer had to serve two aces on his way to saving three break points in the fifth game, but then broke to level at 4-4, for once breaching Nadal's impeccable defences.

But he handed the advantage straight back in the next game, skewering a backhand wide having saved two break points.

Nadal missed a set point at 5-4 before rain brought a 10-minute halt. He squandered another on the resumption before Federer made him pay to hit back for 5-5.

The top seed dominated the tie break. A weak approach from Federer allowed Nadal to fire back a backhand pass to carve out four set points and he was two sets to the good thanks to a another searing, forehand crosscourt winner.

Federer was broken to love to slip 4-2 down in the third set but bravely clung on to nip straight back to trail 3-4.

He successfully served to stay in the match in the 10th game, broke for 6-5 before having the crowd on their feet by snatching the third set 7-5.

In a rollercoaster of an occasion, Nadal fought off two break points in the opening game of the fourth set, then broke to love for a 3-1 lead and held for 4-1.

The fight was suddenly gone from Federer as Nadal clinched a double break for 5-1.

A netted service return gave Nadal three match points and a sixth title was his when Federer went long with a forehand.

Baba Ramdev resumed his agitation at his ashram

HARIDWAR: Undeterred by his forceful eviction from New Delhi, Baba Ramdev resumed his agitation at his ashram here, saying the 'satyagraha' will continue till his demands on curbing corruption and black money are met by the Centre.

Baba Ramdev sat on 'satygraha' along with his supporters and disciples at 'yagyashala' of his Patanjali Yogpeeth late last night, yogpeeth sources said today.

The yoga guru, who was bundled out of the national capital after police crackdown on his followers, tried to resume his satyagrah in Noida yesterday but was not allowed to enter Uttar Pradesh.

He was stopped on the border of Muzaffarnagar district at Bhuraheri police check post where the administrative officials asked him to return to Uttarakhand.

Later, Baba returned to Patanjali Yogpeeth last night and began his fast.

Baba told his followers that he will continue his satyagrah till his demands on curbing corruption and black money are met by the centre.

Ramdev had on Sunday said, "No one should violate law and so I am not going to Delhi. I was not allowed to reach Noida in UP to continue the protest. Now it will happen here".

IMF decided to lend Egypt $3 billion

Cairo: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has decided to lend Egypt $3 billion, Egyptian Finance Minister Samir Radwan said.

The IMF would grant the loan over 12 months for the fiscal year 2011-2012 starting this July, and the agreement is regarded as the corner stone of enhancing the country's economic growth, the media reported.

Radwan said the interest rate for the loan would be 1.5 percent, which is lower than the usual rate of seven percent charged by the IMF. This was due to the market price and the situation in Egypt.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the IMF said the loan was part of the international support pledge for Egypt in a bid to promote economic growth.

Egypt's economy deteriorated after massive anti-government protests toppled former president Hosni Mubarak in February.

Egypt would also receive loans worth $2.2 billion from the World Bank.

New Delhi: Om Puri, who moved to television when it was not so popular among Bollywood celebrities, may soon come on the small screen with a rural-based show that will highlight the role of panchayats in villages.

"I was approached by the rural development ministry to be a brand ambassador... very soon I will work in a serial. We had a couple of meetings, it has something to do with rural development," Puri, who debuted on small screen in 1988 with the comedy show "Kakaji Kahin", told the media today.

"The idea of the show is to create awareness among the villagers that they should exercise their rights and have panchayats that are effective. The panchayats have been given a lot of rights and also a lot of resources, which people in general should be aware of and they should demand their rights - whether it is cleanliness or employment," he added.

The actor, who also worked as narrator for the popular television show "Mr. Yogi", was in the capital to offer his support for "Fools for Forest" campaign, an initiative by NGO Green Peace India, which aims towards saving the forests. He was accompanied by his son Ishaan.

Last seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Teen Thay Bhai", the actor is now gearing up for the release of his new film "West is West", which hits the screens on June 10.

Content head of Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment, says Shah Rukh Khan nurture young talent

New Delhi: She is 28, has written a book, is a London School of Economics (LSE) alumnus and has penned the screenplay and dialogues of Shah Rukh Khan's "RA.One", touted to be Bollywood's costliest film. Kanika Dhillon, the creative content head of Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment, says the star is among the few producers in Bollywood who nurture young talent.

"When I came to work in Mumbai, I knew I wanted to work with Shah Rukh Khan. Look at what he's done, where he's come from...and what he is today. His success story is a fable!," Dhillon, originally from Amritsar, told to the media.

"He is among the few people who nurture young talent in the industry, without looking at the background, the experience, age and other such things. He is one of those few who is so clued in with what the younger generation likes and dislikes...and that's what makes him what he is!" she added.

Dhillon is ready to launch her first novel "Bombay Duck Is A Fish" on Monday. The book traces the journey of small-town girl Neki Brar, who like countless other starstruck people, leaves her cushy corporate job and comes to Mumbai to make it big as a Bollywood filmmaker.

And like many, Neki too is enamoured of King Khan.

Neki's story is quite similar to Dhillon's.

A well-read girl, who graduated from Delhi University's St.Stephen's College, she went on to study at LSE with a major in media and communication for the sake of her parents, for whom her filmmaking ambitions were an "embarassment".

But Dhillon, who started her Bollywood stint as an assistant director of Farah Khan's "Om Shanti Om", clarifies that her book is only 30 percent of her own life.

"My book doesn't capture how Bollywood works. It captures the human emotions behind wanting to meet your own destiny. It is a human story about passion, love, faith, betrayal, success and all those emotions that one comes across in the path of achieving their dreams," she said.

With Shah Rukh portrayed as a phenomenon in her book, it was only appropriate that she wanted the superstar to unveil the book. And Dhillon is more than glad that he agreed without hesitation.

"I have been working with Shah Rukh for five years. But the feeling was fantastic when he said yes to launching my book. It was a big news for me. For two days, I couldn't believe he would launch my book, but he has been very encouraging on every platform," said Dhillon.

"If people feel that reading my book turns out to be a good visual experience, I would love to turn it into a screenplay. But it depends on how well it is recieved," she added.

Film direction is also on Dhillon's mind - who feels it is a "natural progression" for anyone passionate about filmmaking.

For now, however, she is looking forward to the launch of her book and the release of "RA.One", in which she has given some heartwarming dialogues like "Some superheroes wear a mask, this one wears a heart".

Dhillon has also started to write her next book "Kalma" - a true story of a Muslim girl.

Thousands including Sadhvi Ritambhara have joined Baba Ramdev's fast against corruption on Saturday morning.

UK kebab the costliest at £750

LONDON: The world's most expensive kebab has come up for sale in the British capital, costing a staggering £750, if you fancy a bite. A British chef Andy Bates dished up the kebab in a TV show, claiming it be sourced with the finest ingredients in the world, to create the incredible snack.

Labelling it as the 'Don of All Doners', Bates uses hand-picked succulent milk-fed lamb from the Pyrenees, seasoned and primed with the best peppers, olive oil, barrel aged feta cheese, purple violet potatoes and Coeur de Boeuf tomatoes.

But no ordinary pitta would do for this mouth-watering meal, so the chef made a saffron infused flatbread to host the fabulous meat dish.

His tangy chilli sauce uses Scotch Bonnet chillies and the cooling mint and cucumber yoghurt is infused with Krug Grande Cuvee champagne, tabloid Daily Mail reported.

The expensive flatbread is stuffed with an exquisite micro-cress and bib lettuce salad and a delicate oregano concasse. Andy, who created the dish for TV channel Food Network UK, even decorates his culinary masterpiece with an edible gold leaf garnish. The pricey kebab is presented on a silver platter and was protected with a cloche prior to its first serving in Stockwell, south London.

French Open final loss is hard to swallow, admits Sania Mirza

NEW DELHI: The French Open final loss is hard to swallow, admits Sania Mirza, but the Indian tennis ace also has a sense of immense satisfaction at finishing runners-up in the women's doubles event given the way she was struggling for form and fitness a few months ago.
"A loss is a loss at any stage and initially it hurts. But when I look back at where my career was a while back, there is a feeling of immense satisfaction at what I have managed to achieve," Sania, who was battling a career-threatening wrist injury not so long ago, said.

A second Grand Slam title slipped out of her hands when she lost the French Open final along with Russian partner Elena Vesnina. The Indian star said the strong wind throughout the clash was a major factor but lauded her rivals for overcoming the adverse conditions better than them.

Sania and Elena lost the final 4-6, 3-6 to unseeded Czech pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka on Friday. The Czechs were the sixth unseeded pair in 30 years to win a Grand Slam.

Both the pairs committed numerous unforced errors but the Czech girls put on slightly better show which was instrumental in their win.

While Sania-Elena's first serve percentage was 54, it was 61 for rivals. Winning percentage for both the first and second serve was less than 50 percent for the Indo-Russian duo.

The only area where they performed better was that they committed five double faults to eight of the Czech pair.

"Yes, it (wind) was but in tennis, it is always the team that acclimatizes to the existing conditions that comes out on top. In the final, our opponents managed to adjust to the conditions better than us," Sania said.

Sania was categorical in stating that Elena was the best of all the partners she has played with before.

They teamed up at the start of the year and won titles at Indian Wells and Charleston, though, they continue to wait for their first Grand slam title together.

Sania has teamed up with America's Liezel Huber and Bethanie Mattek and Chinese Taipei's Chan, Yung Jan before.

"Elena is definitely right up there among the best," she said.

Asked what is it that makes this partnership so successful, Sania said, "We've been friends since our junior days and get along wonderfully. She has a brilliant backhand and serve and is an ideal foil for the forehand and return of serve, which are my strengths."

As the talk veered from doubles to her singles career, Sania was asked about her not-so-impressive Grand Slam record. She has not reached the singles third round in a Grand Slam since the 2008 Australian Open.

But the Hyderabadi said it's only because she drew against strong players early.

"I don't look at it as a jinx. I think I've generally lost to better players in the Grand Slams. I lost to Justine Henin in Australian Open and to Agnieszka Radwanska in French Open," she said.

The next Grand Slam -- Wimbledon -- is on grass, a surface Sania enjoys more than the clay.

Sania was not ready to predict how long would she stay in the singles there but was hopeful of breaking into top-50 in the WTA rankings.

"I will continue to work hard and try to be the best that I can be. Yes, I could break into the top 50 in singles in a few months."

China: US culprit in global 'Internet war'

BEIJING: The Chinese military accused the US of launching a global "Internet war" to bring down Arab and other governments, turning the tables on allegations of major online attacks on Western targets originating in China.

The accusations by Chinese military academy scholars, and their urging of tougher policing of the Internet, followed allegations this week that computer hackers in China had compromised the personal Gmail accounts of several hundred people, including government officials, military personnel and political activists.

Google traced the origin of the attacks to the city of Jinan that is home to a military vocational school whose computers were linked to a more sophisticated assault on Google's systems 17 months ago. China has denied responsibility for the two attacks.

Writing in the Communist Party-controlled China Youth Daily newspaper, the scholars did not mention Google's claims, but said recent computer attacks and incidents employing the Internet to promote regime change in Arab nations appeared to have originated with the US government.

"Of late, an Internet tornado has swept across the world ... massively impacting and shocking the globe. Behind all this lies the shadow of America," said the article, signed by Ye Zheng and Zhao Baoxian, identified as scholars with the Academy of Military Sciences.

"Faced with this warmup for an Internet war, every nation and military can't be passive but is making preparations to fight the Internet war," it said.

While nuclear war was a strategy of the industrial era, Internet war is a product of the information age, the article said. Such conflicts stand to be hugely destructive, threatening national security and the very existence of the state, it said.

China needs to "express to the world its principled stance of maintaining an 'Internet border' and protecting its 'Internet sovereignty,' unite all advanced forces to dive into the raging torrent of the age of peaceful use of the Internet, and return to the Internet world a healthy, orderly environment," the article said.

China already heavily filters content and blocks numerous foreign websites, a system known as the "Great Firewall of China." The police employ a large force of Internet monitors to scour the Web for content deemed illegal or subversive, and those users transmitting sensitive contact can be charged with sedition or other crimes.

A number of foreign governments say they've been targeted by hacking attacks from China, although Beijing routinely denies undertaking such operations and says it too is a victim of such activity.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told reporters attacks such as the one alleged by Google were a primary reason why the State Department had for the first time created a cyber-security coordinator.

The FBI said it was investigating Google's allegations, but no official government email accounts have been compromised. Google said all the hacking victims have been notified and their accounts have been secured.

Baba Ramdev went ahead with his fast against corruption, thousands of people assembled

New Delhi: Thousands of people today assembled at the Ramlila Ground in central Delhi as yoga guru Baba Ramdev went ahead with his fast against corruption and black money amid tight security. "It is overwhelming to see the huge crowd that has gathered in support of our crusade against corruption. The journey is long and I request the supporters to stay calm," Ramdev said to a thunderous crowd as he began his hunger strike."We are not going to bow down to any political party or conspiracy. It will be a peaceful protest," Ramdev said.

The yoga guru decided to go ahead with the fast after a meeting with the government representatives on Friday failed to reach a compromise over the demands he has raised against graft practices in India.

Supporters from all across the country poured in at the venue early morning to register themselves before joining the yoga guru in his fast.

"I have come here to show that corruption is not just one man's issue. It is the entire country's concern whether Baba Ramdev does it, or Anna Hazare does it," said 42-year-old Ashok Chauhan, an income tax officer from Jaipur.

Another supporter, Suresh Tanwar from Haryana, said: "We will die, but not go away until the government takes a strong action against corruption. This is a mass movement that will not die down easily."

The yoga guru has asked the government to take urgent steps to bring back black money stashed away abroad by Indians and also take effective measures to curb rampant graft in the country.

He said the agitation was "democratic and non-violent" and "not against any party or to bring down the government".

"A few corrupt people have given a bad name to this country. We have to do something," Ramdev said to the humongous gathering.

Amartya Sen will be the chief mentor of the prestigious Presidency University

Kolkata: Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen will be the chief mentor of the prestigious Presidency University, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said.

Sugato Bose, grand nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, will be the chairman of the mentor group to be formed on the lines of the newly-revived Nalanda International University in Bihar.

"We will not choose the members. We don't want partycracy, but democracy. The two of them will decide on that," Banerjee said on Friday.

Last year, the former Left Front government had upgraded the 193-year-old Presidency College into a university.

Originally called Hindu College that cradled the Bengal renaissance in the 19th century, the hallowed institution was rechristened Presidency College in 1855.

The institution, with around 2,500 students, still churns out talent, but is facing a lot of criticism about its falling standards due to alleged politics in teacher recruitment and frequent student unrest.

The college's alumni include Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, social reformer Swami Vivekananda, freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, filmmaker Satyajit Ray, Marxist legend Jyoti Basu, economist Amartya Sen and scientist Satyendranath Bose.

The country's first president, Rajendra Prasad, and former state chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee were also students of the college.

Former Haryana CM Bhajan Lal died, will be cremated at Adampur

Haryana: Former Haryana chief minister and political stalwart Bhajan Lal, who died in this Haryana town on Friday, will be cremated at Adampur town near here today evening.

Bhajan Lal, who served as the chief minister of Haryana for three times and was a sitting MP from Hisar, died following a heart attack at the age of 80.

He was ailing for the last few months and suffered a heart attack on Friday. He was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead after failing to resuscitate him.

Family sources said that Bhajan Lal's body, which has been kept at his residence in Sector 15 here since Friday evening, will be taken to the grain market town of Adampur, 25 km from here, today afternoon.

Bhajan Lal started his career as a trader in Adampur and later began his political innings from the town.

Bhajan Lal is survived by his wife Jasma Devi, two sons - former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan and Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) president and former MP Kuldip Bishnoi - and a daughter, Roshni.

The Haryana government has announced a public holiday in the state today. It also declared a three-day state mourning following Bhajan Lal's death.

Bhajan Lal remained Haryana chief minister thrice (1979-82, 1982-86 and 1991-96). He was elected Lok Sabha member from Hisar in the 2009 elections on the ticket of his new party -- the Haryana Janhit Congress.

Born on Oct 6, 1930, in a village in Bahawalpur district (now in Pakistan), Bhajan Lal started as a petty trader but soon became one of the most famous political personalities in Haryana politics. He was particularly well-known for engineering defections of legislators to form governments in the state.

Lunar eclipse will be visible throughout India, will occur June 15

Mumbai: The darkest total lunar eclipse of this century, which will be visible throughout India, will occur June 15, an official of the Nehru Centre said here today.

On the night of June 15, the sun, earth and moon will come in a straight line and the earth's shadow will eclipse the full moon passing through it.

As the moon slips into the earth's "umbra" (dark shadow), it will slowly assume a coppery red colour, making it a not to be missed spectacle.

The lunar eclipse will start at 23:53 p.m. and end at 03:32 a.m. on June 16, and will be visible all over India, the Middle East, southern Europe and northern Africa.

This will be the darkest lunar eclipse over the Indian skies this century. The previous darkest lunar eclipse took place four decades back, on Aug 6, 1971.

The year's second and final lunar eclipse will occur on Dec 10, but it will be visible only in Eurasia, Australia and north-western parts of North America.

Weather conditions permitting, since monsoon is just starting on the sub-continent, the Nehru Centre and other scientific organisations shall make special arrangement to enable people view the total lunar eclipse.

Earlier this year, two solar eclipses have also occurred but they were not visible in India.

Indian cricket team will win the series in the West Indies:Sourav Ganguly

Kolkata: Former captain Sourav Ganguly feels that a depleted Indian cricket team will win the series in the West Indies, but beating England in the following series will be tough.

"India will win the series in the West Indies but it will be tough to beat England in England as they have enjoyed a lot of success at home in the recent past," Ganguly, who turned out for Pune Warriors in the IPL, said on the sidelines of a promotional event.

India start their West Indies series on Saturday with a Twenty20 and it will be followed by five ODIs and three Test matches. India will fly from the Caribbean islands to England for a 51-day tour comprising four Test matches, five ODIs and two Twenty20 Internationals, apart from a number of practice matches against county sides.

Ganguly, who led the national team to the historic Natwest Trophy ODI series win in 2002, hopes the Indian cricketers can keep themselves fit for the England series after the tour of the West Indies.

"It will be challenging to keep themselves fit and fresh for the England series right after the tour to the West Indies," he said.

Bollywood star Salman Khan wants to show "Chillar Party" to Ambika Soni

Mumbai: Bollywood star Salman Khan wants to show "Chillar Party", his first venture under his banner Salman Khan Being Human Productions, to Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni.

The actor had come to launch the first promo of the film that will release July 8 and is his co-production with UTV. It has been helmed by first-time directors Nitesh Tiwari and Vikas Bahl.

"Chillar Party" is a film about a gang of innocent yet feisty kids from Chandan Nagar in whose lives enter two strangers. The film describes how things revolve around their lives.

Khan, on being asked whether he would produce more films under his banner, said: "We will produce more films. When we get good scripts and good films to make, we will definitely produce them."

British producer Leslee Udwin is disappointed that "West Is West" given an A certificate

Mumbai: British producer Leslee Udwin is disappointed that her film "West Is West", a sequel to popular film "East Is East", has been given an A certificate by the Indian censor board.

"There were about five people present at the censor board committee when I went and met them. They were charming and meaningful people and I had a good chat with them. But I was deeply disappointed with the result because this film is in the large measure about a 14-year-old boy's coming of age. So it is crucial for 13, 14, 15, 16-year-old kids to see this film," Udwin told reporters here.

"The film teaches that cultural values and roots are important along with being hilarious, uplifting and moving. So why are we depriving them from this film that gives such a message only because of a few abuses that are used in the film?"

"Everyone uses it, it's used in other films too, for the sake of few abuses why young people are deprived of a crucial message, it's a pity. I'm disappointed," she said.

"West Is West" that stars Om Puri, Ila Arun, Aqib Khan, Raj Bhansali, Veejay Raaz, Linda Bassett and Jimi Mistry in pivotal roles has been directed by Andy De Emmony and is slated to hit screens June 10.

"In England too, we have censorship board. But there we have 15 year certificate too. I would beg India to consider that because to say that there is nothing between 18 to small kids is not right. Fifteen-year-olds are grown ups. They are not babies. So that age group should also have a certification," said the producer.

"I begged the censor board for a U/A, but they did not give. I am sad," she added.

Filmmaker Sanjay Khan is making a comeback as a producer with "Ek Punch Prince"

Mumbai: Actor-filmmaker Sanjay Khan is making a comeback as a producer after three decades with "Ek Punch Prince" and his actor son Zayed says the film will go on the floors at the end of this year.

"'Ek Punch Prince' is a sports-based film that we will start at the end of the year. Currently, we are working on the script," Zayed, who will also star in the film, told the media in an interview.

Faruk Kabir of "Allah Ke Banday" fame will helm the film. Other details about the film are currently under wraps.

Sanjay Khan's last production venture is the 1980 movie "Abdullah".

Zayed has turned producer too and launched his company Bornfree in partnership with Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha. His maiden venture "Love, Breakups, Zindagi" is taking up his maximum time.

The film's shooting is complete and it may come out in August this year.

Playing the role of a producer has taught Zayed a lesson or two.

"Being a producer, you come in with this idea that you will be very spot on, you will be very clear cut, but in this industry one has to learn a lot about flexibility, how to adjust with things and how to take things in their stride. We learnt that," said the 30-year-old.

Other important lesson that he has learned is to be a responsible actor.

"It's not that I was a bad actor but there are certain things that come to light when you become a producer yourself. Sometimes you do tend to take things casually or throw a tantrum or two, but now I have understood a lot of things and have become all the more responsible.

"This is because you realize that a lot of people are depending on you. You have to wake up on time and come for shoot. It's a great high when people depend on you and you deliver what is required out of you," said Zayed.

The actor, who has worked in films like "Main Hoon Na", "Dus", "Shabd", "Mission Istaanbul", "Yuvvraaj" and "Blue", was last seen in a special appearance in "Anjaana Anjaani".

He has now started working on an action film called "Tezz", which will be directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Ratan Jain. It is a remake of the 1994 action flick "Speed".

"I have done action films before but it would be exciting to work with Priyadarshan. He inspires you to do some great stuff," said Zayed.

Not seen a better batsman than Sachin Tendulkar: Viv Richards

PORT OF SPAIN: Batting legend Viv Richards has not seen Sir Donald Bradman but of all those he has seen, including compatriot Brian Lara, none has been better than iconic Indian Sachin Tendulkar.

"I didn't see Don but to me, in all my years associated with the game, I haven't seen a better batsman than Sachin Tendulkar," said Richards in a eulogy to the "little man", who openly professes to have idolised him while growing up.

"If there is a better batsman than Sachin then he hasn't arrived yet."

In one stroke, Richards put Tendulkar in a pedestal above his contemporaries such as Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis and even to the legends such as Sunil Gavaskar and Javed Miandad of his era.

As for Bradman, his career lasted 20 years including a few years disrupted by Second World War. Tendulkar is already in his 22nd year of international cricket. Bradman scored 29 centuries in 52 Tests.

In all formats of the game, Tendulkar has 99 international centuries so far.

"To me the most remarkable thing about Tendulkar is how he has completed the full cycle of his cricketing career, overcoming, pain, agony, failures, fatigue, injuries yet continuing relentlessly till the point the circle was complete.

"He is the most complete package, the cricketer I respect more than anyone else."

Richards defended Tendulkar's decision to skip the complete West Indies tour.

"He is 37 and not getting any younger. You have got to respect him for his decision," said Richards as he turned up for a Johnny Walker promotional event at Queen's Park Oval on yesterday afternoon.

"He has done enough to decide what is best for him. He knows his commitments and the approach he must take for the rest of his career."

It doesn't though stop Richards from lamenting how much Tendulkar's presence could have done to inspire the young cricketers of the Caribbean.

"It would have been fantastic for the young boys to just watch him in action; how he prepares his innings; the way he goes about building his knock, overcoming conditions and opponents.

"It could have been an invaluable experience for our young batsmen."

Richards said he feels humbled by the respect and love he still generates within the cricket community of India.

"The other day, I was on a flight to London and Gambhir was with me. I was really touched by his curiosity and the keenness he had to know about batting. It's passion such as this which sets men like him apart. I was really impressed," he said.

It is ironical though that West Indies Cricket Board isn't quite inclined to take advantage of their own legend to improve the standard of cricket in the Caribbean.

"It's a fragile environment. Only strong leaders can accept independent men," said Richards.

Baba Ramdev's black money fight gets saffron backing

Within the RSS there are some who believe Ramdev is a better face in fight against corruption than the BJP.

Sachin Tendulkar still not satisfied with his career

LONDON: Sachin Tendulkar has almost every batting record that is there to be made under his belt but the iconic Indian cricketer says he is still not satisfied with his career as he considers satisfaction the beginning of stagnation.

"When you win something or score a century you say you are happy, but not satisfied. Satisfaction is like engaging the handbrake and hoping a car moves forward," Tendulkar told the latest issue of 'Sky Sports Magazine'.

"I am not satisfied yet with my career and what I have done, not at all. I feel the moment you start to feel satisfied, then it is only natural that you begin to cool down and lose it," he explained.

Tendulkar reiterated that he is not even thinking of retirement despite completing more than two decades in international cricket.

"I still love cricket as much as ever. It is my job, but it is also my passion. Cricket remains in my heart, I don't need anything else to motivate me. I dreamed of playing for my country when I was young and it is still my dream, it is still fun for me," the 38-year-old right-hander said.

"Life without cricket is unthinkable," he added. Tendulkar attributed his longevity and recent success to a stricter fitness regime, not playing Twenty20 Internationals and bowling only sparingly.

"I am still learning about the game. I figure something out about my batting all the time, you have to keep your mind open. I learn all the time, those small adjustments, with your footwork or bat swing can improve your game, I love doing that. You never know everything. Mentally that makes you feel so good. That is the best form of preparation," Tendulkar said.

Recalling India's recent World Cup triumph after a gap of 28 years, Tendulkar said when the defining moment of his career finally arrived, he wasn't in the middle of the field wielding his bat, nor was he even on the balcony watching his teammates.

Instead, he was on his own in the dressing room, his hands clasped together, his eyes closed as he prayed in silence.

He only knew India had won the World Cup when he heard that cathartic roar reverberate around the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as his captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit the winning runs against Sri Lanka.

Tendulkar described the experience as "a different kind of feeling, a high, like living on a different planet, it felt as though I was flying."

He had waited 22 years for this moment. For all his personal records - and he boasts the most Test runs and Test centuries, and the most One-Day runs and One-Day centuries - Tendulkar wanted something tangible, a trophy to lift, a medal to wear, and to win something as part of an Indian team.

Tendulkar had played in the previous five World Cups, but had fallen short each time. The experience left him feeling "shattered beyond words."

His fellow players too laud the way Tendulkar has sustained himself at the top level.

"It has been fascinating watching the changes in his approach," said teammate Rahul Dravid. "From being a master blaster, he is now a mistake-proof batsman."

While he can't control his body ageing, Tendulkar has increasingly sought to exert more control over his mind.

"You have to be still in your mind, and keep it blank. It is also important to avoid any needless anger," he said.

"Growing up, I picked up a lot from my father, who never lost his temper, and I tried to follow that, so I don't lose my cool."

This impenetrable mask doesn't slip away from the cameras either.

"I have never seen him lose his temper in the dressing room, he has never thrown his bat around even when given out wrongly," said Indian pace spearhead Zaheer Khan.

"Maybe he will have an extra bowl of ice cream, and that is when you realise he is pretty upset."

Google CEO: Risky projects can lead to layoffs

Google executives assured investors that the Internet giant remained devoted to search and advertising while embracing risky new projects that could lead to big payoffs.

"We don't want to choke innovation," Google co-founder and chief executive Larry Page said at an annual meeting of stockholders at the company's headquarters in Mountain View, California, on Thursday.

"We have a few things that may be speculative or risky and you hope you are building a billion dollar business," he continued. "But we spend the vast majority of our resources on search and advertising, where we make most of our money."

Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt hosted the shareholder meeting where Page shared thoughts on the company and fielded questions in a rare break from his pattern of avoiding speaking in public forums.

"Outside the company, people are more interested in what is the latest crazy thing Google did," Page said, illustrating his comment with a picture of him, Schmidt and co-founder Sergey Brin in a prototype self-driving car.

"We have tremendous ambition," he continued. "Keep in mind we are not betting the farm on those kinds of things."

Page assured stockholders that while the company was aggressively hiring and encouraging innovation it remained committed to frugal spending ways learned when it was a startup in a garage more than a decade ago.

Executives sidestepped a question about whether Google planned a stock split, saying only that the notion has been discussed.

Page took over for Schmidt as Google chief executive early this year and reorganized the management to focus on products and "velocity of execution."

"The transition has been working out great," Page said.

"My goal has been to have Google feel like a smaller company," he continued. "That is something I am really pushing hard on."

Google executives touted video-sharing service YouTube, Android-powered gadgets, and Chrome Web-browsing software that will act as an operating system for laptop computers due to hit the market this month.

They also talked up a freshly launched Wallet platform that lets Android smartphones be used like credit cards at shop checkout stands.

"We want to be like a toothbrush; something you use every day and that will be important to you," Page said of Google. "Certainly, if you don't use a toothbrush that would be bad."

While fielding questions at the end of the meeting, Google executives defended giving Android software away free, investing in green energy, and shifting China search facilities from the mainland to Hong Kong.

While smartphone and tablet makers don't pay for Android operating software, the devices result in people using Google search and other services that generate advertising revenue, according to executives.

"We believe the openness of Android is driving tremendous growth," Page said. "It is benefitting our core businesses, which we do make money from."

Page, a supporter of earth-friendly practices, responded to a shareholder's skepticism by pointing out that Google using energy from sustainable sources "makes good business sense no matter what you think of the environment."

Page's pro-environment comments prompted applause from other shareholders.

Schmidt quickly stepped in after a stockholder suggested that given China's record on human rights, environmental protection, and intellectual property "why not just flip them the bird?"

"We feel very strongly that we did the right thing by moving into Hong Kong," Schmidt said.

Google still has hundreds of workers in China, where it sells online ads to businesses and provides Internet search service subject to government censorship.

New Delhi: Two drivers of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a 22-year-old woman, police said today.

Jagdish Kumar and Rajesh Kumar, both around 35, were arrested late Wednesday but released on bail Thursday.

According to the woman's brother Mohit, the incident occurred around 10.15 p.m. Wednesday when the woman was standing outside her home in central Delhi to find an auto for her friend.

Actress Asin describes Aamir Khan believes in preparing ,Salman as spontaneous

Mumbai: Southern actress Asin Thottumkal describes Bollywood star Aamir Khan as an actor who believes in preparing for his scenes before facing the camera while she calls her "Ready" co-star Salman Khan as spontaneous.

"Salman is spontaneous. You have to be very alert while the camera is running because you don't know what he will come up with and what you will have to do as an appropriate thing. There is not much of a discussion before the shot. So you have to be ready with whatever he throws at you during the shot," Asin told the media.

"Whereas Aamir is somebody who will sit with you and the director before the camera starts rolling. He discusses with you various ways of doing it (scenes) and finally decides on one. So here you are sure of what is going to happen in front of the camera," added the 25-year-old.

Salman is known as much for his notoriety in the Hindi film industry as his films, but Asin says she has not seen that side of him and that they gel well.

"I have never personally experienced anything wrong with Salman. Whatever I've come across is that he is somebody who is really pure from his heart, so whatever emotions come out, it's just that," said Asin who has now worked with Salman in two films - "London Dreams" and forthcoming release "Ready".

"He is direct and straight. He doesn't put on a face for different groups of people. When he is angry, he'll show that and when he is not, he'll show that too. So basically, I have not seen that very notorious side of Salman that the media keeps talking about," she added.

Talking about "Ready", which is releasing June 3, Asin said: "We started working on 'Ready' right after 'London Dreams'; so it's like back-to-back movies with Salman. The interaction I had with him during 'London Dreams' kind of helped me to have a comfortable relationship in 'Ready' because a rapport was already created."

"I think even he is quite comfortable working with me because somewhere I get his sense of humour. He has a very straight-faced sense of humour, so we pretty much gel well with each other on the sets," she added.

The camaraderie between Asin and Salman has been so strong that many started seeing them as a couple. However, the actress denies any romantic relationship with her co-star.

"Everyone knows that the rumours had no truth in them. These rumours started during 'London Dreams'. However, I want to maintain that I am quite single and not in a relationship and that's why I think rumours like these get accentuated more," explained the actress, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Aamir Khan in superhit film "Ghajini".

Finally, when asked how difficult it is for her to get noticed while appearing with a star like Salman in the same frame, the actress answered, "That's not in the hands of the actress.

"That would be in the hands of the scriptwriter or the director. We wouldn't have much of a say in it. You just do the part that has been given to you to the best of your ability and that's all. You don't really worry about a superstar like Salman, who obviously deserves the kind of adoration or space that he gets because he is who he is.

"You can't look up to that and say that I want to compete with him and nudge him and push him aside and show my face. I'm quite happy to be a part of this big project," said Asin.

Bollywood actor Zayed Khan scold Dia Mirza to calm her down

Mumbai: She swept floors and brought things from her home on the sets of her maiden production venture. Actress-turned-producer Dia Mirza got so involved in the production of "Love, Breakups, Zindagi" that her partner Zayed Khan had to actually scold her to calm her down.

"I swept floors. I brought half of the things from my own house. For me, producing a film was not just about bringing in funds, making schedules and dealing with numbers, it was about realizing the imagery that we all had in our mind. There is a certain level of involvement that I feel a producer needs to have to give the film that push it needs," Dia told to the media.

Dia and Zayed, along with Sahil Sangha, have launched the production house Bornfree and are currently in the process of finishing their first film under the banner.

It is being directed by Sangha and stars Dia and Zayed.

"Zayed scolded me once on the sets. I was behaving as if guests have come to my house. So I was taking care of smallest of things myself. Zayed was like you are an actor also, so you just need to calm down and relax and take a seat when your shot is over," said the 29-year-old.

"It was a healthy fight and I'm glad that we had it. He was scolding me because he was looking out for me and that's what you expect from your partner, to care for you, to account for you," she added.

"Love, Breakups, Zindagi" is a romantic comedy and is slated to release in August. The film also stars Cyrus Sahukar, Tisca Chopra, Satyadeep Misra, Pallavi, Vaibhav Talwar and newcomer Auritra Ghosh and Umang in lead roles.

Although Dia is enjoying her newfound role of a producer, she finds it extremely exhausting.

"I've been asked what am I doing to lose weight, I said, I turned producer. With Sahil, Zayed and me, our day after pack up didn't end. It's been long hours, but it is just such an overwhelming experience to see what you thought to do," she said.

"I didn't have any clue that it will be so enormous a task. I think you have an inclination, but you don't realize how much you have to put into it to make it happen everyday. I think you really need to love it passionately to give it all of yourself," she added.

Now that she has tried production, Dia, who has acted in films like "Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein", "Tehzeeb", "Lage Raho Munna Bhai", "Shootout at Lokhandwala" and "Hum Tum Aur Ghost", is keen on donning the director's hat.

"Direction is something I have always consciously thought about even when I was acting. I think it was my level of interest in the technicalities of making a film and how it all comes together. Soon I will direct a film," she revealed.
