Mumbai Indians might have virtually secured a place in the play-offs of the ongoing Indian Premier League but captain Sachin Tendulkar has warned his teammates against any complacency and said consistency is key to success in the ongoing Twenty20 tournament.
Mumbai outclassed Delhi Daredevils by 32 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday to continue to lead the points table with 16 points from 10 matches.
"I think in all departments we have done well, batting, bowling and fielding. But we have to continue to be consistent," Tendulkar said after the match.
He lauded the entire team for the comfortable victory but singled out Munaf Patel (2/29), who was athletic at the field, and Aiden Blizzard (37 off 23) for special praise.
"Munaf's been terrific, his attitude has been fantastic. We got off to a brilliant start, courtesy Blizzard. He batted beautifully at the start," the Mumbai skipper said.
With this loss, Daredevils are out of the play-off race and a visible disappointed captain Virender Sehwag put the blame on his top-order for their collective failure.
"Very disappointed, because our top-order didn't click today. It is very difficult to chase 180 when you lose four wickets for seven runs," he said.
Asked whether Daredevils were completely dependent on him this season as when he clicked the Delhi outfit won, Sehwag said, "I think if you look at the history in this season, that is true."
Mumbai batsman Ambati Rayudu, who scored a man-of-the-match winning 39-ball 59, hoped his impressive performance in this year's IPL will fetch him a call to the national team.
Together with Rohit Sharma (49 off 32), Rayudu added 87 runs in just 56 balls to guide Mumbai to an imposing 178 for four.
" I'm really happy with the way I played, and the partnership with Rohit (Sharma), who also played well today. It is a dream to represent the country. I'm used to keeping wickets, working hard on it and hope to improve it," Rayudu said.

Google loses copyright appeal to Belgian newspapers
Google Inc lost an attempt to overturn a Belgian ruling that blocked it from publishing links to local newspapers on its online news service.
The Court of Appeal in Brussels on May 5 upheld a 2007 lower court ruling that forced Google to remove links and snippets of articles from French- and German-language Belgian newspapers from Google.com and Google.be. Google, the owner of the world's most-used search engine, faced a 25,000-euro ($36,300) daily fine for any delay in implementing the judgment.
Copiepresse, the group that filed the suit on behalf of the newspapers, said the snippets generated revenue for the search engines and that publishers should be paid for the content. The publications have a second suit pending in which they seek as much as 49.1 million euros for the period in which their content was visible on Google News.
"This case sets a precedent," said Flip Petillion, a Brussels-based partner with Crowell & Moring LLP, who wasn't involved with the case. "Google has every interest in taking the debate to the highest level, they have no choice" other than to appeal, he said.
Google said it remains committed to further collaborate with publishers in finding "new ways for them to make money from online news." Google has the option to appeal the ruling to the Cour de Cassation, Belgium's highest court.
'Fully Compliant'
"We believe Google News to be fully compliant with copyright law and we'll review the decision to decide our next course of action," Mountain View, California-based Google said in an e-mailed statement. "We believe that referencing information with short headlines and direct links to the source -- as it is practiced by search engines, Google News and just about everyone on the web -- is not only legal but also encourages web users to read newspapers online."
Copiepresse said in a statement it is pleased with the decision and "hopes Google will have the intelligence to look for a fair solution to end this situation."
"This case will have serious consequences to the way information is searched and managed" on the Internet, Erik Valgaeren, a lawyer for Google, told the Court of Appeal at a Feb. 23 hearing. A negative ruling "would put at risk all referencing services, or even cause them to disappear."

Iconic Jaguar will soon launch C-X75, a hybrid supercar
Mumbai: The iconic Jaguar will soon launch C-X75, a hybrid supercar, priced in the range of British 700,000 pounds plus local taxes, an official said here today.
The new car will mix international combustion power with electric motors to achieve supercar performance giving speeds of over 200 kmph, carbon-dioxide emissions of less than 99 gms/km and a lightweight but strong all carbon-fibre chassis.
Initially, only 250 exclusive models shall be built in association with and direct technology transfer from Williams F1, the motorsport engineering leader.
"This is the Jaguar of the future. It's fantastic that products like the C-X75 can become reality," said CEO of Tata Motors, Carl-Peter Forster.
Terming it as the company's most ambitious, world-beating vehicle programme, Forster said the opportunity for innovations like this in Britain is part of the reason why Tata Motors invested in Jaguar around three years ago.
Revealing that the proposed supercar received an incredible response as a concept car at the Paris 2010 motor show, Jaguar Brand Director Adrian Hallmark said that "there is a clear business case for this exclusive halo model. No other vehicle will better signify Jaguar's renewed confidence and excellence in technological innovation than this".
He said the Project C-X75 will be the ultimate expression of Jaguar design and engineering innovation, sticking to the initial concept design while fulfilling requirements to make it suited for road use.
"We were determined that Jaguar C-X75 would be as striking on the road as it was in concept form," said Jaguar Cars Director of Design Ian Callum.
He assured it would be finest looking, and most innovative Jaguar car ever produced.
In what is termed as an unprecedented move, Jaguar C-X75 will be developed in association with Williams F1 who will provide their engineering expertise in areas including aerodynamics, carbon composite manufacture and hybrid technologies.
Jaguar Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth said the confirmation of this project signposts JLR's continued determination to embrace new technologies.
"A supercar like the C-X75 is the logical choice to showcase cutting-edge design, intelligent use of new environmental technologies and motorsport-inspired performance," Speth observed.

Roland Joffe loved the Hindi film "Shor In The City" and Tusshar Kapoor's role in it
Mumbai: Oscar-nominated filmmaker Roland Joffe loved the Hindi film "Shor In The City" and Tusshar Kapoor's role in it. The director of films like "The Killing Fields" and "The Mission" even auditioned Tusshar for a role in his future project.
Joffe has cast Bipasha Basu in "Singularity".
"I did meet Roland. We did discuss about a role in his next film and I even auditioned for it, but I don't know if it will work out or not. Nothing is concrete at the moment," Tusshar told the media.
"But it was a big feather in my cap that he liked my performance in 'Shor In The City' and loved the film, and that's why he called me to meet him," he added.
After his last release "Shor..." that garnered immense critical acclaim, the 34-year-old actor is looking forward to "Love U...Mr Kalakaar!", a Rajashree Productions film slated to hit screens on May 13.
Directed by S. Manasvi, the film stars Amrita Rao opposite Tusshar, who is playing the role of a cartoonist named Sahil. The film is a love story between a creative guy and a management trainee.
The actor, who reveals that he can't even sketch to save his life, used his imagination to portray the character in the film.
"It was basically my conception. I tried to understand what Sahil is all about. What are his personality traits? How would he react to situations? How would he deal with the other characters in the film? What are his likes and dislikes?
"I feel every artist is different and Sahil also has his own unique quality; so I had to understand what Sahil is all about. That I did depending on my own imagination and of course by discussions with the director and the producer," explained Tusshar.
This is going to be Tusshar's solo-hero release after a long time. Of late, he has been working in multi-starrers like "Golmaal", "Shootout At Lokhandwala", "Dhol" and "Life Partner".
So is he nervous that he would have to balance the film alone on his shoulders?
"No, I'm not feeling nervous. I think it's a great opportunity and I like the film. I've seen it, so I think it will reach the audience it's targeted at.
"The pressure is as much as it is in a multi-starrer, because it doesn't matter if it's a solo film or multi-starrer. Whether you gain or not from a film depends on your work and how good or bad the film is. The film will speak for itself," explained the actor, son of yesteryear star Jeetendra.
Asked if the film got delayed, Tusshar said: "It was always meant to be released at this time. We started in July last year and it has been nine months, which is a good enough time, not too long for a film to be made."

Kayani against 'no first use' nuclear policy: Wiki cables
Pakistan's powerful army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani does not support President Asif Ali Zardari's "no-first-use" nuclear policy, according to US diplomatic cables released by whistle-blower website WikiLeaks.
"Although he has remained silent on the subject, Kayani does not support Zardari's statement last year to the Indian press that Pakistan would adopt a 'no first use' policy on nuclear weapons.
"Despite increasing financial constraints, we believe that the military is proceeding with an expansion of both its growing strategic weapons and missile programs," the "scenesetter" cables sent by the then US ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson prior to Kayani's Washington visit between February 20-27, 2009, said.
The major US concern has not been that an Islamic militant could steal an entire weapon but rather the chance someone working in government of Pakistan's facilities could gradually smuggle enough fissile material out to eventually make a weapon and the vulnerability of weapons in transit, according to the recently released cables.
However, they also noted that Pakistan's strategic assets are under the control of "the secular military, which has implemented extensive physical, personnel and command and control safeguards."

SKS Microfinance, largest micro-finance institution fell almost 20 percent
Mumbai: SKS Microfinance, the largest micro-finance institution in the country, fell almost 20 percent after investment banking major JP Morgan cut its target price for the scrip to almost half.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the SKS scrip closed today with a loss of 19.83 percent at Rs.331.30. It had touched its lower circuit filter at Rs.330.65, less than 30 minutes before closing bell.
The share started its free fall Friday after reports came in that JP Morgan had cut its share target price on the stock to Rs.200 from the earlier Rs.550, based on weakening of the company's business model.
Post a successful listing last year, SKS has been mired in controversy. In October, SKS sacked its chief executive Suresh Gurumani resulting in a 9 percent fall in share prices as investors feared mis-management of funds at the company.
Also, a legislation from the Andhra Pradesh state government which sought to regulate micro-finance institutions' due collection practices and bring down interest charged on loans, also hit the company's margins.
It voluntarily brought down the interest to 24.5 percent from over 26 percent it was charging earlier.
JP Morgan viewed the business negatively as it said that over 600 employees were virtually without work in Andhra Pradesh and the company would have to take a re-look at their strategy.

The Australian joined the IPL after retiring from international cricket and in the very first season guided Royals to the title. He has led from the front and bowled with the same intensity and guile that is expected from the world class spinner.
In 52 IPL games spread across four seasons, Warne has picked up 56 wickets at an average of 24.66. His performance in the current season has been impressive, to say the least. The 41-year-old has 11 wickets to his name in nine matches. And the fighter that he is, Warne wants to go out on a high.
"Want RR to go out on a high - we must win at least 2 if not 3 of our last 4... I will miss the IPL but it's been fun for the last 4 seasons."
Warne asked the Royals' fans to come out to the ground and support the team in the remaining four matches.
"Thanks for all the support you have given me and RR - hope to see you down at the ground.. I am going to enjoy my last 4 games - win please," he wrote.
Warne might not have committed to his association with Rajasthan Royals but the franchise was quick to come out with a statement that he will continue to be an integral part of the team.
"Shane Warne has been an integral part of Rajasthan Royals for the last four years. He has been instrumental in nurturing young talent in the team and making Rajasthan Royals a formidable force in IPL. He will continue his association with the Royals in coming years and will offer his invaluable guidance to young players. We are looking forward to him assuming a larger role in the team and continuing adding value to the team's success," Raghu Iyer, chief marketing officer of Rajasthan Royals, said in a statement.
Rajasthan Royals are at fourth position in the league and are still in the hunt for qualifying through to the next stage.

Deepika wants to see the film "Ragini MMS" prior to its release ,but Ekta kapoor don't want
Mumbai: Delhi-based Deepika, whose real life story inspired Ekta Kapoor's upcoming film "Ragini MMS",on Friday said that if the film is not shown to her prior to its release, she will take legal action against the producer.
"I want to see the film. I have spoken to Ekta about it. She doesn't want to show it to me, I don't know why?" the 22-year-old told reporters here.
"I'm coming from Balaji office right now and the only answer I get is that the movie is not ready. How is it possible? The movie is releasing in one week. If I'm not shown the film before release, I will take legal action," she added.
Deepika, who was shown the script of the film before it was filmed, said she wants to see whether she has been portrayed in the right light or not.
"When the film was being made, I was shown the script and I did read it. I have no problem with the script. But there is a lot of difference between reading the script and interpreting that on the screen. I want to see how they have portrayed my character. Because if there is something bad, then my image will be ruined," said the Delhi girl.
"Ragini MMS", which is produced by Ekta and directed by Pawan Kripalani, is slated to hit screens May 13 and is about a couple who go for an adventurous weekend and get filmed by 24 cameras amid some paranormal activity.
Ekta has maintained that only 30 percent of the film is based from Deepika's incident and the rest is pure imagination.
According to Deepika, she was offered money as compensation for her story but she refused.
"Ekta asked me if I want to be paid. But I said no. she didn't mention an amount but she said she can pay me for this. But I told her that I don't want anything because it's a story on my life," she said.
In the real life incident, Dipika said, her boyfriend secretly filmed both of them involved in intimate physical contact.

Ekta Kapoor's "Ragini MMS" is based on the real story of Deepika !!!
Mumbai: Ekta Kapoor's upcoming thriller "Ragini MMS" is based on the real story of 22-year-old Delhi-based girl Deepika, but Kainaz Motivala, who essays the role in the film, reveals that she has never met her and was told very little about the original incident.
"I was told about the original story very briefly. I haven't met her," Kainaz told the media.
Directed by Pawan Kriplani, "Ragini MMS" is a sensuous paranormal film, shot in real time.
The actress argues that the film is not cent percent based on what happened with Deepika, and the character she plays is quite different from her.
"This film is not 100 percent real. It's also partly fictional. My character is also not all based on Deepika. She is from Delhi, Ragini is a south Bombay girl. As I had never met Deepika, I didn't get to do much research," said Kainaz.
Report says that while Deepika was recovering from the shock in Delhi, Ekta was planning to make a film on the MMS scandal in Mumbai.
When Deepika's friend, who work in Balaji production, asked Ekta if she would like to meet a girl who has gone through such a similar incident, Ekta grabbed the opportunity. Deepika has even signed a contract with Balaji Films.
Asked if she ever insisted to meet Deepika, she said: "I am sure there is a reason why I was not made to meet her."

Amitabh Bachchan is eager to buy his own Harley Davidson
New Delhi: After riding what he calls the "beast bike" for "Bbuddah - Hoga Tera Baap", megastar Amitabh Bachchan is eager to buy his own Harley Davidson.
"What is it with men and the sound of a mean machine. The roar of a speed car, the rush of air and sound in a double exhaust bike, that kick of acceleration as you push the pedal flat, that jerk of change on the Concord, when it was functional, as it went from normal to Mach 3 at 55,000 feet in the air! Is it the same with the ladies too?" Amitabh wrote on his blog.
"Soon after it was the adrenalin pumping beast bike, the Harley 'twixt my legs. And what a monster it is. I have to say though that having done it, and for the first time, it is an experience that now coerces me to have one of my own. OOOOO! Baby!! It is another world as you stride all the leather and studs and white metal that surrounds you. Quite something!" he further wrote.
Meanwhile, age seems to be taking its toll on the 68-year-old.
"Running at 70 is a bit of a bother! You feel you can move with some fluidity, but no! The legs do not respond to what the mind is telling it to do and you suddenly realize that the weight of your body is not that lithe anymore," he wrote.
"So as I sit down on my 'blogespherechair' to fill in my adventures, I am cushioned with hot water bags and electronic heating devices to ease out the numerous folds of muscles, that had remained dormant and in retirement for a very long time," he added.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will never kiss in films
New Delhi: In 22 years of his showbiz career, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has perhaps hardly ever locked lips with his heroines and says he never will. He admits he is not just uncomfortable about kissing on screen, but doesn't even know how to do it.
"I don't kiss on screen because I don't know how to do it. I don't do it because I feel weird...and I feel those who do it in films, do it well already," Shah Rukh told reporters here on today.
"I feel discomfort in doing two things for films. When anyone comes to narrate a story to me, I tell them two things - main ghoda nahin chalaunga aur main choomunga nahin (I won't ride a horse and I won't kiss)," added the 45-year-old.
Shah Rukh's well-known witty side came through when a young journalist asked him if reports that he has kissed Kareena Kapoor for his upcoming sci-fi superhero film "Ra.One", are true.
Looking dashing in a formal black suit, he seemed to be quite amused at being asked such a question at a press conference meant for the formal announcement of Tag Heuer's tie-up with Buddh International Circuit, the host of Formula One in India.
"Where did you read these reports," he asked.
"They are all over the internet, probably reported from Mumbai," she said nonchalantly.
"How old are you my dear?" asked Shah Rukh, and the lady responded: "I am 25. But you shouldn't ask a girl her age."
Came SRK's quick rejoinder: "Well, dear, you don't ask such questions to men! You've asked me this, I am a simple guy, married man with kids...but don't ask such a question to men on the street! But, because you are young, and possibly just stepped into journalism, please don't believe whatever you read on the internet. It may not always be true."
Shah Rukh says if a film requires him to do things which make him uncomfortable, he quits it.
"I don't kiss simply because I am not comfortable doing it. I am pretty uncomfortable even at laughing in my films...so whenever there is a scene where I have to laugh, or where there is a scene where I am uncomfortable or I feel I will not be able to do justice to it, and whenever there are animals involved and I feel they might be mistreated, I quit the film in its narration itself."

Survey presented a dismal picture of the Anganwadi centres and schools
New Delhi: A survey conducted with the help of around 20,000 children from 16 states has presented a dismal picture of the Anganwadi centres and schools in their respective states.
Under the banner of "9 is Mine" the campaign was launched by Wada Na Todo Abhiyan, the umbrella organisation which tracks government policies in the social sector.
Over 20,000 children took part in this exercise of marking score cards and looking at the infrastructure of 3,677 schools and 3,810 Anganwadis spread over 16 states. It covered 57 parliamentary constituencies, 150 assembly constituencies and over 1,000 villages.
"Only 77 percent of schools have a drinking facility but only 13.83 percent schools have good water facility which is fit for drinking. Out of the 62 percent of schools which have toilet for girls, only 13.33 percent are in good condition," the finding of the survey released today said.
According to the score card prepared by these children, only 10 percent of Anganwadis under the Integrated Child Development Scheme qualified for five marks.
The findings also said that out of 80 percent of Anganwadis which have weighing machines, only 14 percent are operational.
Accessing in these schools was also not very encouraging as only 51 percent have ramps, but of these only 8.33 percent are considered good, the survey said.
Bulu Sareen, the India head at Child Health Now, said: "The primary eduction sector is in a very bad state. It is ironical that the government has given the sanction for 14 lakh Anganwadis and only 10 lakh are operational, that too not in good condition."
Pinky, 18, a student from Uttarakhand, said: "I have been part of the scorecard marking exercise in 10 villages in Dehradun. We feel bad that teachers are not working properly in some schools while the government is spending so much money. It is important that these findings and facts reach them."
The children also demanded the fulfilment of the common minimum programme which promised to commit six percent of GDP to public spending on education and three percent on health.

Osama, a mass killer of Muslims: Clinton
Slain al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden, who was shot dead in his hideout by special US forces in Pakistan, was a mass killer of Muslims and not a martyr as a few people are trying to portray, secretary of state Hillary Clinton has said.
In her remarks to the National Conference of Editorial Writers, Clinton said the state department is now working on a narrative "that will convince people he was a murderer, not a martyr," and that bin Laden murdered more Muslims than anyone else.
"He was a mass killer of Muslims," she said. Noting that bin Laden had tremendous sway with so many impressionable people in many parts of the world, Clinton said the US is already seeing something of an effort by the al-Qaida remnants to decide who comes next.
"Any succession crisis provides an opportunity. A lot of people say al-Zawahiri will step into it. But that's not so clear. He doesn't have the same sense of loyalty or inspiration or track record," Clinton said.
"So I think his death, his removal from the leadership, along with two very important points that need to be remembered is that Taliban did not give up al-Qaida when President (George) Bush asked them to after 9/11, because of Mullah Omar's personal relationship with bin Laden. That's gone, so I think it opens up possibilities for dealing with the Taliban that did not exist before," she hoped.
Clinton said the effort to stop al-Qaida and its syndicate of terror will not end with the death of bin Laden.
"In Afghanistan, we have to continue to take the fight to al-Qaida and its Taliban allies. Perhaps now they will take seriously the work that we are doing on trying to have some reconciliation process that resolves the insurgency," she said.
Responding to questions, Clinton said there's no doubt that al-Qaida is somewhat decentralized, but that bin Laden remained the brains behind the operation and the inspiration.
"He was the person who people pledged loyalty to when they joined al-Qaida. It wasn't to an organization; it was to an individual," she said.
"So our message to the Taliban hasn't changed; it just has even greater resonance today. They can't wait us out, they can't defeat us; they need to come into the political process and denounce al-Qaida and renounce violence and agree to abide by the laws and constitution of Afghanistan," Clinton said.
"We have a very close relationship with Pakistan, and it was crucial in finally leading us to bin Laden. So the work that was done over many years had many contributors, including our partners in Pakistan," Clinton said in her remarks on Monday, according to the transcripts provided by the state department on Thursday.
"We're going to be working to bolster our partnerships even now, particularly as people are digesting this news. We're going to look for ways to put this into the context of the larger debate we're having here at home about what it takes to stay engaged in the world," she said.

Osama's wife lived in Pak safe house for 6 years: Pak official
A Pakistani intelligence official says a Yemeni-born wife of Osama bin Laden has told them she had been living in the al-Qaida chief's final hideout for six years without leaving the upper floors of the house.
The woman is one of three wives of bin Laden currently being interrogated in Pakistan. Aut horities are also holding eight or nine children found at the compound after the US raid.
Their accounts will show how bin Laden spent his time and could offer glimpses into the inner workings of al-Qaida.
The official did not say on Friday whether the Yemeni wife has said that bin Laden was also living there since 2006. the official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to give his name to the media.

Stealth helicopter used by US while Osama operation may reach China
London: There are concerns that the secrets of the stealth helicopter used by US commandos to storm Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's Pakistan hideout may reach China, a media report said here.
The media reported that the US Navy SEALs had used a previously unseen stealth helicopter for the daring mission in Pakistan's Abbottabad city so that they could evade Pakistani radar and not be heard while reaching the Al Qaeda leader's sprawling mansion.
After a snag developed in the chopper, the commandos lobbed thermite grenades to destroy its main body. The rear section was, however, left intact and it was carted away by the Pakistani military.
The media report said it is feared that if Pakistan refuses a US request to return the tail section, the issue could turn into a diplomatic rift.
The stealth helicopter is probably a modified Blackhawk.
The chopper's stealth capabilities become clear from the fact that Osama's neighbours didn't hear the helicopters till they were directly overhead.
The shape and design of the chopper is similar to that of the RAH 66 Comanche helicopter, believe experts.
It is possible that the technology was adapted and placed into a Blackhawk. The modified tail boom would have lessened noise and appears to be covered in a hi-tech material used on stealth fighters.
"The Americans will be extremely keen to get the wreckage back but there will also be real concerns about the technology finding its way to China," Peter Felstead, the editor of Jane's Defence Weekly, was quoted as saying.
"This kind of technology would be extremely useful to them at this point."
Pakistan is working with China on the JF17 Thunder fighter project.

Syed Ali Geelani will lead the funeral prayers for Osama in Kashmir
Srinagar: Hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani will today lead the 'Ghaibana Namaz-e-Janaza' or the 'funeral prayers in absence' for slain Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar.
Geelani has appealed to various Imams across the Kashmir Valley and the people to offer funeral prayers of Osama after Friday prayers.
A heavy contingent of policemen was posted outside the uptown Hyderpora residence of Geelani early today, but was later withdrawn.
Earlier reports had said that Geelani had been placed under house arrest to prevent him from leading Osama's funeral prayers after the Friday congregation.
No senior police officer, however, confirmed Geelani's house arrest.
Earlier in the day, when asked about Geelani's decision to lead funeral prayers, a senior police officer said: "Nobody will be allowed to disturb the peace and tranquility here."
It must be mentioned that Geelani was the only separatist leader in the valley who came out strongly against the US for Osama's killing.
"He died a martyr who fought the US oppression in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya," Geelani said immediately after the news report of Osama's killing in a US operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
Despite official apprehension, Kashmir remained peaceful in the wake of Osama's killing. The Kashmiris mostly preferred not to discuss the issue in public.

BPL Techno Vision Private Limited (BTVL) launched Chirag, a rechargeable lantern
Lucknow: BPL Techno Vision Private Limited (BTVL) - one of the country's leading rechargeable lighting system companies - today launched Chirag, a rechargeable lantern, and hoped it would benefit the rural populace in states, a company official said.
"With the Q Tech technology, unlike the 8-12 hours of charging required by other lights, BPL Chirag requires only 4 hour and gives 5 hours of light. Moreover, the unique technology allows charging even in fluctuating power," BTVL's Chief Operating Officer (COO) K. Vijaya Kumar told reporters.
"The innovative product priced at Rs.849 would particularly benefit the rural populace in states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa as villages there get power supply for 4 hours daily on an average," he added.
After its national launch in Lucknow, BPL Chirag would be available across Uttar Pradesh through 40 distributors in 2,000 retail outlets in the state.
"In later phases, BPL Chirag would be available across India," said Kumar.
Asked why the company chose Uttar Pradesh for the national launch of the product, Kumar said: "The foremost reason for this is the poor power supply in Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, taking into account the vastness of Uttar Pradesh, we expect to strengthen our market base," he added.

Huge rush for gold on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya
New Delhi: There was a huge rush for gold today, with buyers thronging jewellery shops after prices of the precious metal dipped by around Rs.500 per 10 gm, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
The Akshaya Tritiya festival is one of the two most auspicious days of the year to buy gold. Hindus believe they can get lasting prosperity by buying precious metals on the day. The other festival is Dhanteras before Diwali in October or November.
"The response is just overwhelming, we are catering to a huge rush at all our showrooms across the country. The mood is upbeat, It seems that those who had not even planned have also turned up today looking at the dip in the prices," Balram Garg, managing director and chief executive of the Delhi-based PC Jewellers' Group, told the media.
"With such a demand, we expect the business today to rise by 30 to 40 percent as compared to Akshaya Tritiya last year," he added.
Gold, which was retailing at Rs.22,300 per 10 gram a day before, fell to Rs.21,800 today. Silver prices too slipped to Rs.56,000 per kg compared to Rs.60,000 on Thursday.
"There is more demand for the daily-wear and lightweight jewellery but people who are interested in investments are buying gold coins," said Garg.
Shops are also offering freebies and discounts to attract more and more customers.
"We are offering one gold coin with the purchase of diamond jewellery worth Rs.25,000 and half grams of gold with purchase of Rs. 40,000 worth gold jewellery," Garg added.
"We have had a pre-booking of almost Rs.10 crore in 17 showrooms of ours across the country."

Virender Sehwag rated his match-winning hundred against Deccan Chargers as best
Hyderabad: Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag rated his match-winning hundred against Deccan Chargers as one of his best in Twenty20 format and said he was confident of achieving the target once he had batted beyond the 15th over.
Sehwag smashed 119 off 56 balls to single-handedly take his team to a four wicket win over the Chargers on Thursday night. Chasing down 176 is a challenge on any surface but Sehwag felt the target was well within reach as long as he stayed at the crease.
"I never got a 100 in T20s. First six overs did not go our way as we were 29 for three in six overs. Since they didn't have a fifth bowler, I thought if I can target their fourth and fifth bowler, we would be able to achieve this target," Sehwag said at the post-match press conference.
"The moment I got 23 runs in Ishan Malhotra's over, the momentum shifted in our favour. I knew if I could bat 15 or 16 overs, the target should be achievable."
The emphatic win here has given a ray of hope to the Daredevils, who are placed at seventh position in the points table with four wins from 10 matches. Sehwag said they will go all out in the remaining games as they have got nothing to lose.
"We don't have any pressure now as we have to win all four games. We have nothing to lose. Nobody is expecting us to reach the semi-finals. If you have nothing to lose and if you play freely and fearlessly, you can achieve the goal. We have to enjoy and have a little bit of luck going our way," he said.
Sehwag said he still has not lost hope of qualifying for the play-off amongst the top four teams.
"Deccan Chargers last year won five games in a row. So hopefully, this time Delhi Daredevils will emulate them."
The India opener said he needs to be more consistent in the coming matches as he is the senior-most member of a young team.
"If you look at the 10 games that we have played, I have performed in only three matches. In that respect, even I have also not been consistent. I have to accept the maximum responsibility as most of the players, save myself and Venugopal Rao, do not have much experience. It takes time to build up a good team," he concluded.

Saif Ali Khan bought the rights for a French comic to make Hindi movie
Mumbai: Saif Ali Khan is scouting for different subjects to make films on.
The star has recently bought the rights for a French comic and is looking forward to transforming it into a truly commercial Hindi movie.
"I want to make an Indianised commercial movie out of it. The comics for kids are very commercial. I will start thinking about it after finishing 'Agent Vinod'," said Saif.
"Agent Vinod", being made under his production banner Illuminati Films, is an action thriller directed by Sriram Raghavan, in which his girlfriend, actress Kareena Kapoor, will be seen in the female lead.
Saif, however, refrained from divulging the name of the comic, saying: "It's still very early. Some paper work is yet to be completed."
Junior nawab has also finished shooting for director Prakash Jha's "Aarakshan" and both films are set to release this year.

He shall always be remembered for his commitment to the upliftment and welfare of the people of the state."In his condolence message to the late chief minister's wife Rinchin Drema, Manmohan Singh said: "He was a veteran politician of Arunachal Pradesh who worked tirelessly to promote the interests of the state. Sniffing dog was part of the crack team ,who shot dead Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden
London: An explosive sniffing dog was part of the crack team of US commandos who shot dead Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.
The Sun reported that the dog was strapped to an assault team member who was lowered into the mansion where Osama was hiding in Abbottabad city.
US special forces swooped into Abbottabad May 2 and killed Osama.
It is not the first time dogs have been used for such operations.
These specially trained dogs wear ballistic body armour that can withstand knife attack as well as protective gear which shields them from shrapnel and gunfire, the report said.
The dogs will attack anyone carrying a weapon and play a critical role in raids as they crawl into tunnels or rooms to hunt for enemies.
Cameras are strapped on their heads and these show live pictures to the troops, providing them with critical information.

Senior Al Qaeda member Khaled al-Atifi al-Qahtani surrenders to Saudi authorities
Moscow: A senior Al Qaeda member Khaled al-Atifi al-Qahtani has given himself up to the authorities in his homeland Saudi Arabia, the country's news agency said today.
Al-Qahtani is the first Al Qaeda member to surrender since the group's leader Osama bin Laden was killed in a US operation Monday in Pakistan's Abbottabad city.
"Khaled al-Atifi al-Qahtani, one of 47 Saudis abroad wanted by the security authorities, contacted the security bodies expressing his willingness to be helped to come back home and to turn himself in," Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki said.
"A matter was arranged and facilitated to realise his return and to be reunited with his family as soon as he arrived in the Kingdom," the spokesman said.
Saudi Arabia offers cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of Al Qaeda members on its wanted list, compiled earlier this year. The document is the latest of five terrorist wanted lists drawn up since a series of attacks on the kingdom in 2003.
In November 2010, the Saudi authorities announced that they had arrested 149 suspected Al Qaeda members and uncovered 19 terrorist cells in the preceding eight months.

Pakistan warned the US and India against any further covert operation in Pakistani territory
Islamabad: Pakistan today warned the US and India against any further covert operation in Pakistani territory, saying this would lead to a "terrible catastrophe".
Admitting that the US assault that killed Osama bin Laden did achieve "important results", Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir told the media: "This cannot be taken as a rule."
"There should be no doubt that Pakistan has a capacity to ensure its own defence," he said.
In an apparent reference to India, Bashir said: "Any other country that would ever act (similarly) on the assumption that it has the might ... will find it has made a basic miscalculation."
He added: "We see a lot of bravado in our region... from the military, air force, which state that this can be repeated.
"We feel that sort of misadventure or miscalculation will result in a catastrophe.

Kochi Tuskers' Australian batsman Brad Hodge criticised the demanding schedule of the IPL
Kochi: Kochi Tuskers' Australian batsman Brad Hodge has criticised the demanding schedule of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), saying that the tournament involves "too much travelling.
The cash-rich event is seven-weeks long and requires the players to travel all across India to feature in a minimum of 14 games. Hodge said the scheduling could have been better.
"We could have done better in the IPL this time. The schedule I think is hectic," said Hodge. "There are 10 teams and they have done their best to make a good schedule, but it involves too much travelling.
The nature of pitches have been another talking point of the IPL and Hodge feels that pitches used in Kochi in the earlier games in Kolkata and Jaipur were sub-standard.
"We could have won a few more matches but got struck on a few sticky wickets. Some of the pitches like the one in Calcutta (Kolkata) and Jaipur could have been better," said the 29-year-old Australian.

Amitabh Bachchan will be back as host of "Kaun Banega Crorepati"
New Delhi: Amitabh Bachchan will be back as host of "Kaun Banega Crorepati", but not in his customary jacket and tie. Instead, the star will be wearing bandhgalas in varied colours, teamed up with scarves, as part of the special look designed by Rohit Bal.
Big B posted two pictures of his look for the fifth season of the popular quiz show on his blog today -- he is wearing a bandhgala in scarlet blue with cream scarf in one, and a charcoal black bandhgala with a maroon scarf in another.
"This is designed by Rohit Bal, the young celebrity in the world of fashion who has always been flamboyant and has had a way with colours," wrote Big B.
There is no change in his trademark french cut beard and big glasses. The 68-year-old star is all praise for the Delhi-based designer, a close family friend.
"Rohit or 'Gudda' as his pet name beckons him, a dear friend from the time when he was a little kid, running around in shorts in his house in Srinagar. His parents, my parents, his sisters and us all close family," posted Amitabh.
"Had stayed with them in Srinagar during one of our early holiday visits, when I was still working out of Kolkata and since then have seen the growth of this very talented youngster in the field he enjoys most - design!," he added.
The show returned for its second season in 2005 with Amitabh, but superstar Shah Rukh Khan was roped in as the host of its third season on Star Plus.
Sony Entertainment Television brought back Amitabh as the host last year, and it repeated its success story. The channel signed up the actor for the next two seasons in January.

Bin Laden unarmed when shot dead: US
WASHINGTON: The United States revealed on Tuesday that Osama bin Laden was unarmed when US commandos shot him dead and that Pakistani authorities had been kept in the dark because they might have tipped off the al-Qaida leader.
Unusually frank remarks from the CIA chief betrayed the extent of the distrust between the United States and Pakistan, a nuclear-armed ally and key partner in the war against the resurgent Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan.
"It was decided that any effort to work with the Pakistanis could jeopardize the mission," Leon Panetta told Time magazine. "They might alert the targets."
US officials, meanwhile, debated whether to scotch conspiracy theories by releasing a "gruesome" photo of the dead bin Laden, conscious that such an image would likely inflame strong passions in some Muslim countries.
The White House gave the fullest account yet of the dramatic and momentous raid on Sunday night that killed the architect of the September 11, 2001 attacks and sparked scenes of relief and joy around the Western world.
But officials did not clearly explain why bin Laden was shot dead and not captured given that he was unarmed, fueling speculation that the elite Navy SEAL team had been ordered on a kill mission.
"In the room with bin Laden, a woman -- bin Laden's wife -- rushed the US assaulter and was shot in the leg but not killed," White House spokesman Jay Carney said. "Bin Laden was then shot and killed. He was not armed."
When pressed further, Carney said there had been significant resistance, a "volatile firefight," and insisted: "We were prepared to capture him if that was possible."
The fact that, after a years-long manhunt, bin Laden turned up in an fortified compound in Abbottabad, home to the Pakistani equivalent of the West Point and Sandhurst elite military academies just two hours' drive north of Islamabad, has been greeted with incredulity.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari rejected as "baseless" charges that his country extends safe haven to extremists, but outraged US lawmakers are calling for billions of dollars in aid to be cut back or dropped entirely.
The Obama administration last year said it would seek another $2 billion for Pakistan's military, on top of a five-year, $7.5 billion civilian package approved in 2009 aimed at weakening the allure of extremists.
US analysts were scouring documents and computer files seized from bin Laden's hideout for evidence after top counter-terrorism official John Brennan said it was "inconceivable" he had not had some kind of support network in Pakistan.
For a decade, Islamabad has been America's wary Afghan war ally, despite widespread public opposition and militant bomb attacks across the nuclear-armed country that have killed several thousand people.
But Pakistan has never been fully trusted by either Kabul or Washington, which accuse its powerful military of fostering the Afghan Taliban it spawned during the 1980s resistance to the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.
Pakistani intelligence officials said the nation's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency had no idea bin Laden was holed up in Abbottabad, despite searching the compound in 2003 while it was still under construction.
In a Washington Post opinion piece, Zardari acknowledged the US commandos carried out the raid without Pakistani collaboration -- but stressed Islamabad had initially helped to identify the al-Qaida courier who led them to bin Laden.
US officials say DNA tests have proven conclusively that the man shot above the eye in Sunday's raid was indeed the al-Qaida leader who boasted about the deaths of nearly 3,000 people in the September 11 attacks.
But they are also mulling whether to release a photo as proof.
"It is fair to say it is a gruesome photograph... it could be inflammatory," Carney said. "We are reviewing the situation."
In the operation, which lasted less than 40 minutes, Navy SEALs approached in two helicopters and stormed bin Laden's compound, which stood out from other properties because of its towering perimeter walls and heavy security.
In addition to the bin Laden family, two other families resided there: one on the first floor of the main residence and another in a second building.
"There was concern that bin Laden would oppose the capture operation and indeed he resisted," said Carney.
He noted that two al-Qaida couriers and a woman were killed on the first floor of the building, while bin Laden and his family were found on the second and third floor. The fifth person killed in the raid was believed to be one of the al-Qaida leader's sons.
After the firefight, other residents of the compound were moved to a safe location as the US team detonated a damaged helicopter before leaving for the USS Carl Vinson in the North Arabian Sea.
US officials have revealed how the trail for bin Laden had gone cold for years until August 2010, when the CIA tracked a courier and his brother to the large compound in Abbottabad, north of Islamabad.
After months of top-secret planning, the operation came down to a simple command delivered by Obama on Friday -- "it's a go."
The president and his top lieutenants gathered in the White House Situation Room to watch the dramatic operation remotely as it unfolded. Then came confirmation that bin Laden -- code-named "Geronimo" -- was now "EKIA:" Enemy Killed in Action.
The United States says bin Laden received Muslim rites before his body was "eased" into the Arabian Sea on Monday so no one could turn his grave into a shrine. Muslim leaders have condemned the sea burial.
With Pakistan's main Taliban faction vowing vengeance, the United States said it was closing its consulates in the cities of Lahore and Peshawar to the public until further notice.
Hundreds of curious Pakistanis meanwhile descended on the bullet-riddled villa that had hidden bin Laden from the world, some taking pictures and home videos of the battered compound.
Gathering outside to get a look at the now notorious high-walled villa, dozens of youths staged a demo mocking the United States, shouting "Osama is alive!"
While it is not yet certain who will replace bin Laden to lead al-Qaida, Panetta said that "whoever takes his place, he will be number one on our list."

Osama bin Laden virus on Facebook
With the internet abuzz with stories related to Osama bin Laden's death, the FBI is warning people not to open unsolicited links that "purport" to show photos or videos of the Al-Qaida leader's killing, saying these could be computer virus.
Asking computer users to exercise caution, the FBI said people should not open unsolicited spam emails that claim to show photos or download software to view videos of bin Laden's death, even if the messages are from people they know as these applications can infect computers and could be viruses programmed to steal personally identifiable information.
Such "content could be a virus that could damage your computer. This malicious software or malware can embed itself in computers and spread to users' contact lists, thereby infecting the systems of associates, friends, and family members," the FBI said in a statement.
The Internet Crime Complaint Center urged computer users not to open spam mails, including by clicking links contained within those messages. "The public should exercise due diligence." Links claiming to show footage of bin Laden being killed by US troops and photos of the dead terrorist are already doing rounds on popular social networking sites like Facebook.
Some links on Facebook claim that "exclusive footage" that will "leave you speechless" has been leaked by "Wikileaks" and organisations like "CNN", playing on users' curiosity to see the world's most wanted terrorist in his last moments.
Once a user clicks on the link, it is automatically pasted on the walls of all his contacts. The FBI further asked computer owners to ensure they have up-to-date antivirus software to detect and deflect malicious software, and to keep an eye for fraudulent messages that often feature misspellings, poor grammar and nonstandard English.
The agency also asked users to adjust the privacy settings on social networking sites to make it more difficult for people to post content to their page. A photograph, released on the internet hours after US President Barack Obama announced to the world that bin Laden was dead, showed a brutally injured bin Laden with his eye gouged.
That photo had turned out to be a fake. "Even a friend can unknowingly pass on multimedia that's actually malicious software," the agency said, adding that criminals may also use the FBI's name and seal to add legitimacy to their fraudulent schemes.

Tamil Nadu government to take legal action against AIADMK's newspaper Namadu MGR
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has decided to take legal action against AIADMK's newspaper Namadu MGR for publishing a report alleging that a meeting of police officers was held to discuss ways to assist the ruling DMK during the counting of votes on May 13.
The state went to polls April 13 to elect a new 234-member assembly.
The news report, published Tuesday, also stated that a senior police officer chaired the meeting and the Election Commission of India is enquiring into the matter.
In a statement issued here today, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said: "The report is published mainly to confuse and divert people and also instil a sense of fear in the minds of officials who are assigned the task of vote-counting."
He said that he hoped the Election Commission would declare the findings of its enquiry, if it had conducted one, and also take legal action against those responsible for publishing the report.

Arunachal Pradesh CM Dorjee Khandu body identified
Itanagar: Family members today reached the site of the helicopter crash and identified the body of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu but the other four bodies were mutilated and charred beyond recognition, officials said.
Police said a small group of the chief minister's family, security personnel and local officials touched the site after an arduous four hour trek near Lobotang, 30 km north of the 13,700 feet Sela Pass in Tawang district.
The wreckage had been sighted around 10 a.m. by a group of civilians led by a Village Defence Party (VDP).
"Some family members were able to identify the chief minister's mutilated body. According to information, the four other bodies were badly mutilated and charred almost beyond recognition," the official told the media.
Efforts are now on to get back the five bodies to the nearest accessible point but this could take close to seven hours.
"It would be an uphill climb, and the terrain is rough and slippery," Kiren Rijiju, adviser to the chief minister, told the media.
As news of the sighting of the wreckage spread, a pall of gloom descended in the mountainous state.
"This is heartbreaking. We are sad as the chief minister was a visionary and honest politician. His death has shaken us," moaned Bamang Tago, a civil rights campaigner.
The Pawan Hans AS350 B-3 helicopter carrying the chief minister and four others went missing after it took off from Tawang at 9.50 a.m. on Saturday.
The last radio contact with the ground was about 20 minutes after take off as it flew over the Sela Pass along the Chinese border.
